Aeroponic towers are a vertical, soil-free gardening system where the roots of the plants are suspended in air and sprayed with a nutrient-rich solution. Aeroponic towers are a sustainable way to grow food in nontraditional agriculture spaces both indoors and outdoors. Lake County 4‑H manages four aeroponic towers. Youth are engaging hands-on with planting, growing, and harvesting fresh produce, sparking curiosity and interest in healthy eating and nutrition. The aeroponic tower gardens are not only a source of fresh produce, but also a foundation for immersive, hands-on science and STEM learning.
Join us at the Gary Area Career Center to enjoy a buffet lunch (including produce grown in the aeroponic gardens!) prepared by the chef and students of the GACC culinary program, and discover more about this amazing technology!
R.S.V.P. by May 9th to reserve your spot!
