Alyssa Krebs of Washington County focused her 2021 Youth Engaged Service Grant on filling backpacks with school supplies for the local Women’s Shelter.
Alyssa Krebs gathered a group of 4‑Hers to help her achieve her two main goals for this community service project. The first goal was to purchase and fill 40 backpacks with school supplies for kids staying at the local Women’s Shelter. The second goal was to fill as many extra backpacks as possible to be made available for the homeless. Alyssa and her team had to factor in which supplies are best for each grade level as well. The “Blessing Backpacks” are intended to help provide a sense of stability to these students at the shelter.
This YES Grant, funded by donations to the Indiana 4‑H Foundation, fostered a new connection between the Boston Blazers 4‑H Club and the Washington County Women’s Shelter to plan similar community service events in the future.
Be sure to fill out a 2022 Youth Engaged Service Grant before March 15, 2022, to lead a project such as this one. in4h.org/grants
